EDITS Chart - Operational Overview

Through the use of optical mark recognition technology and a uniquely designed ED chart created to facilitate data recording and capture, the program will recognize the specific areas of the chart that have entries. The presence or absence of data in specific locations on the chart will form the basis for determining the number of elements completed in a chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, family, social and past medical history, physical examination and medical decision making, and may also help to predetermine hospital ED room charges. The EDITS Chart software program is in development and is slated for release in the first quarter of 2001.
